Exterior cleaning for a historic market-town centre, racecourse and visitor sites, retail and public car parks, and the trading estates on the edge of town, across Pontefract and the WF8 postcodes.
Pontefract
Pontefract is small enough to know and old enough to be particular, and most of what we clean here is a historic building, a public space or a car park that serves one.
The centre is arranged around its market place and the streets that run off it, with the ruins of the castle on the rock above. Much of the commercial property is older stone and brick, some of it listed, and some of it in a conservation area. The town is also known for its racecourse, which brings large crowds, large temporary structures and large car parks on race days, and a quiet exterior estate between them.
Away from the centre are the trading estates and retail units that serve the town, and, close by, the Ferrybridge area where the A1 and the M62 meet. That corridor is a logistics and roadside-services location, and the things that need cleaning there are yards, forecourts, hard-standing and the cladding and gutters of the long sheds beside them.

In a historic centre the question is what the surface is and who has to be told. On the outskirts it is how much of the yard can stop at once.
We describe the method in writing for a conservation or listed-building site, so it can be shown to whoever needs to agree it.
On event sites, the cleaning window is set by the calendar, not by the building.
The town's centre and its edge are very different places, and need to be treated as different jobs.
Shop and office frontages in the older streets are cleaned gently, with attention to joints, ironwork and signage. Pavements and market surfaces are cleaned after the day's trading, not during it.
Sites open to visitors have footpaths, steps and entrance areas that need to be safe and attractive. These are cleaned at low pressure, with attention to the stone, outside opening hours.
Event-day parking fields and hard-standing take heavy use over short periods. Cleaning and any re-marking is planned between fixtures so the surface is presentable before the next large crowd.
Council and private car parks near the centre collect leaf fall, oil and chewing gum. They respond well to a scheduled clean, and re-marking lifts the whole site.
Units on the edge of town are mostly metal-clad sheds with small yards. Gutters and cladding are the usual jobs, and many are shared by several tenants with one landlord.
Forecourts, service areas and yards close to the major roads carry fuel, tyre rubber and grit. They are cleaned in phases around live vehicle movements.

Pontefract is in the same district as Wakefield and Castleford, and we work across all three. Each has its own page.
Yes. The method is chosen for the stone or brick, set out in writing, and kept to low pressure where the substrate needs it. We can supply it for the building owner or conservation officer to review.
Yes. On an event site the calendar decides the window, and we plan the work to be finished with time to dry before the next crowd arrives.
Normally, yes. Cladding is washed from the top down and gutters cleared at the same time, which avoids washing dirt onto surfaces that have just been done.
Whether it’s large-scale pressure washing, industrial cleaning or ongoing commercial maintenance, Jet Clean Commercial Services is ready to help.
